I was fourteen when my parents built a new house on our small family farm in Iceland. Every day after the construction crew wrapped up, I would grab the technical drawings and walk around the jobsite, totally amazed how they could build an entire house, using only a patchwork of lines and numbers for guidance. One day, a few weeks later, I discovered an important construction mistake within that maze of blueprints, and quickly notified my parents. Corrections were made, and I felt a surge of pride. I was hooked on architecture and design.
In my twenties, I moved to Copenhagen, Denmark to study Interior Architecture at The Royal Danish Academy of Fine Arts. During my third year of studies, I was accepted to an exchange program at Rhode Island School Of Design, and it was in Providence, RI that I met my big love and best friend, my husband. After graduation, I moved to the USA and started working residential, commercial, and healthcare interior design. Now we live in the countryside in Vermont surrounded by big hemlocks and beautiful river and mountain views.
My design aesthetic, an uncommon hybrid of Scandinavian and American influences, drives me to produce bold spaces that are playful, yet comfortable, and practical. I always do my best to create environments that satisfy my clients' needs while simultaneously offering eccentric points of interest that spark the imagination.
